Learning about Inspire Gymnastics Competitive Team

When the traditional "one class per week" isn't enough for your child, it's time for the next big step in our sport, "TEAM".  This means longer training sessions, more time on the apparatus, and competitions.

Whether it's to get your athletes feet wet in the world of competitions or to go to nationals, earn a collegiate scholarships make it to Elite or make the national Team. Inspire can take your athlete from start finish.

USA Gymnastics Compulsory Levels

The sport of gymnastics competitive program is designed to teach root skills, which are fundamental to higher level gymnastics, at the beginning levels of competition, the routines are all the same, hence the reference to the "compulsory" program.  Your child will compete the same routines as other gymnasts at competitions, with the highest score coming from the most well executed performance.  Perfect the basics, win the compulsories.

Inspire gymnastics does not compete or train level 5. Our level 4 gymnast either score out of Level 5 and go straight to level 6 or we have a in house meet and tap out of level 5.

Why do we not train or compete level 5? Level 5 and level 6 are the same skill wise. Level 5 is still considered compulsory which means all gymnast perform the same exact routines and skills to the same exact music. Level 6 is the first optional level in levels 6-10. In level 6 the gymnast have their own routines with their own unique music. Their routines are catered to their strengths.

This also provides more versatility in skills the gymnast perform and better suites the training environment of our program.

Level 2 - Level 5 (Inspire skips level 5)

USA Gymnastics Optional Levels

Level 6 - 10, Junior and Senior Elite

Once a gymnast has proven mastery of the compulsory levels, they advance to the next level of competiion at the Optional level.  While there are mandatory elements, gymnasts are given more choices that suit their strengths and abilities.  These "Optional" skills comprise their routines and the balance of riskier difficulty with the same focus on perfect execution will determine their score. If you have ever watched gymnastics on television, wether it’s your favorite Collegiate  team, Worlds or the Olympics; this is what Optional gymnastics is  (it’s the only path to those platforms).

Although, Olympics, Worlds, and Collegiate Scholarships are awesome goals, there are also so many areas of success in the Optional program, such as Competition Titles
